Your agreement is with the contractor
Any quote you receive, and any contract you sign, is between you and the contractor. Questions about price, workmanship, timing, warranties, payment or defects are matters for you and the contractor. We recommend you:
- Get a written quote that describes the work in detail
- Ask to see the contractor's registration and insurance before work starts
- Confirm whether a building permit or other approval is needed, and who will obtain it
- Agree payment terms in writing and avoid paying large sums before work begins
