We are a service-area business without a public shopfront. Builders come to you.
What to include
The more a builder knows before visiting, the more useful the first conversation is. If you can, include:
- Your suburb, so we can match you with a builder who works in your area
- What you need: a new wall, a replacement, a repair or a wall to match an existing one
- Rough size: approximate height at the highest point and the length of the wall
- What is above and below: a lawn, a driveway, a house, a pool, a neighbour's yard
- Access: the narrowest point a machine would need to pass, any steps or slopes
- Photos: the whole area, the ground on both sides and any existing wall up close
- Fences: whether a fence is on, or will go on, the wall
What happens next
- A local builder contacts you to talk about the job.
- They visit the site to measure and look at the ground, drainage and access.
- You get a written quote. Compare it using the checklist on our cost guide.
- If you go ahead, you agree the details and timing directly with the builder.
If the wall may need a permit, the approval guide is worth reading before the site visit.
Before you call
It helps to have a rough idea of the budget you are working to and when you would like the work done. If your wall might need a permit, the time for approval comes before any building, so allow for it in your plans. If the wall is on a boundary, a quick word with the neighbour before the site visit makes the conversation about access and fences much easier.
